This is for you!!

Thank you, feel deeply humble for all the good wishes I had received today.
Feel truly blessed to have so many people wishing good!! Spirits are so pure.
It is during this time where testaments are challenged and true evaluations are done to see if you are truly loved and cared…and its all because of you …
Thank you…thank you to each and ever one of you…you made me part of your wishes…you remembered me and wished me the very best…Could’t have asked for more this birthday than this.
I made a special pray to lord today…to be kind on each and every soul on this earth and be blessed with so many friends and family as I have been.

This short poem is for you!!

I pray and I pray for all
To be blessed in my prayer to lord
To have friends and family so kind
To be part of me during ups and downs of my life

Oh blessed I feel
For all the friends I seek
For making my birthday so fine
To all my dear ones
I thank you all for once
To be part of my journey
Could not have been so great
Without your stake
Hence I dedicate this poem
Because you are my true triumph

It was all worth it!

It’s been a while I have written….
This one makes its special and something to cherish for the New Year to come.
Very recently I had my master’s commencement.
When I was sitting by the podium before my name was called, I could think of endless adjustments I had to make for this day to happen, number of parties and fun time I had to give up, sleepless days to balance work and studies and the list goes on.
But sitting there on that day made me realizes that it was all worth it.
It is not until you see the results of your perseverance that you realize the true taste of success.
Message today is very simple, whichever path you are pursuing, there may be several roadblocks, several failures, endless thoughts of giving it up …don’t quit. Very soon you will realize that “It was all worth it”

My new word for my daily use

“Spectacular” the sound of the word makes me feel happy.
How many times in a day does a person greet someone or receive one?
I think beyond my finger count for sure and with that how many opportunities do we miss making the other person feel astoundingly amazing!!

So try this out next time when a person greets you “How are you doing” say with enthuse “Spectacular” and observe that awe smile on his face…it works!!
Or choose a word to greet someone that is out of norm while looking into the person eyes with a warm smile
One of my to do list for the day is to make at least a person feel good and bring a smile on his face, now I am sure I could change from single to bunch :)

Dare to dream!!

When you dream about something and you know for sure that, it is what you want, then why is it so hard to make it happen?
Well I guess answer to this one is not that simple. The journey to destination is what makes the dream happen and not just merely dreaming about it.
Many a times I have planned and try to stick by my plan and as much hard I try to abide by it, it sometimes fails, which is okay if it is just for a day or so but not if it becomes a habit.
What helps to break this kind of habit is practicing few of the following suggestions
1) Even if it take for ever for that day don’t give up!! No matter what stick by with it
2) Persistence is a virtue, Some people say it take 30 days to make it a habit I would say 21 days. Three week is all it take to personalize your habit as long as you are patient
3) “Too many cooks spoil the broth” “Under promise over deliver” all these quotes speaks of the same thing. Plan to achieve fewer task then what you can. The energy attain accomplishing those small goals is awe-inspiring for bigger ones.

Most importantly know for sure that it is truly something you want, because patience and persistence would only work hand in hand if you connect your heart to your head.
Discipline is big word and often time misused. When you use such word for your daily deeds make some boundaries so that no matter what you will not go over it. Sounds all majestic and perfect for this moment. But I assure you, you will be living one if you dare to dream and stick by with it…. So start dreaming and churn them into reality.

Small step for a complete life renewal!!

Have you ever wondered how one could continuous self improve?
Wait a second; you may ask a question, why do I need to self improve?
Answer is simple, in today’s volatile world, being best is not always enough. People’s attitude change, their expectation change and with that if you were at your best in your own world you will be lost and easily forgotten.

Social networking is one the necessities today. World’s paradigm is changing ever second. One needs to abreast with all the changes and keep learning and get better ever-single day.

What would be one the simplest (may not be the easiest thing) solution one could adapt to for the changes around you? Well, setting goals ever morning and reflecting upon it ever evening would be one of the surest solutions. But what has worked even more wonderfully for me is having a new adaptation in my goal every single week and practicing it ever since. So imagine a jar where you would add a pebble every single week. By the end of the year it would probably be over flowing. Now reflect this thought on yourself. Every single week you push yourself to learn or adapt to a new regime. At the end of the month you would have four new elements you would have learned and by the end of the year, when you were to look back and you will be aghast as to how much you have grown and learned from it.

Adaptation and weekly learning’s could be as simple as “ I will make sure I will make at least one person smile” or “I will make sure I wake up every morning by 5:00” or “I am going to keep my self updated with financial news” or as aggressive as “ I will take care of myself by maintaining healthy diet”Which ever you choose, stick by it. Make sure you keep a journal as you make progress. Small step for a complete life renewal!!

My world my sister

If I were to start talking about a remarkable sister I have, I would probably run out of pages…can’t say enough here…
The reason why I am here in USA with our parents in India is because my sister is around.
I have learned so much from her, that some times I wonder am I really the older one?
We are just two years apart but we grew up as best friends one could ever imagine!
To extend where we both did our senior engineering year together and yes we graduated to gather as well!!
She is one of the most practical, understanding, loving and caring individual I have ever met.

Some of the amazing lessons I have learned from her and still learning is
Her top most priority has always been family. No matter what, if it means to leave work for 5 days and visit India she would’t give a second thought and do it right away. How many people can do that?

Another great quality that I struggle to adapt with is Simplicity. She is so happy and attain with where she is today. She has no complains, what so ever in her life. I am truly amazed!!

Last but not the least a thought I would like to leave you all with. This one I would always remember and I urge you all to at the least to think about.
Not long ago, my sister was on her way from Columbus, OH to visit me here in Salt Lake City. She called me from the airport and told me that the flight was delayed by two hours. I was very upset when I learned that. In an hour or so she calls me again and tells me that her flight was delayed by another 2 hours…now I was furious. Here I am thinking I just get a weekend to spend with her and I am already missing all the time I could have had with her.
She very humbly tells me Sheetal, “DON’T SWEAT ON SMALL STUFF”. Powerful words! It worked. I was at peace immediately. Then she continued, “There is lot of things in this world that isn’t under our control. Do we really want to get worked up with that? What good does it do to us”?

I am so blessed to have such a wonderful person in my life. So today I salute to all the siblings out there and cherish this amazing thought with all of you.

Guidance by Dipak Jain

Some of the quotes and advice I noted during a session I attended at Jaina Convention 2009.
Dipak Jain, Dean of Kellogg’s Business school, shared below quotes and advice (One of the person I respect and admire the most)

“Attitude is best predictor of person’s altitude”

Three things one must do and apprise ourselves daily with
1) Reflect: Spend few minutes to reflect everyday including some of the achievements and failures; what would you like tomorrow to be.
2) Renew: Renew your thoughts. Think out side the box. Not only expand your thoughts with what you would you like to be tomorrow but also how you would like to see yourself in 5 years. This could be personal or work related.
3) Responsibility: Every one of us should take the responsibility of being what we are and what we choose to do with our lives.

The way you could change world question.
“To the world you can be a person but to person you can be a world”

“Challenge in front of you is never bigger than forces behind you”.

Share a cultural experience.

Life is all about learning

Success is all about making a difference

"Outcome is a sight but the process to reach the outcome is insight

In the time of the crisis the people who make a sound decision are the ones who have their feet on ground.

Don’t loose Jain values

Two Top Lessons I learned from “My Sister's Keeper”

Sometimes what you hear and see may not be everything to it. Keeping in mind not to ruin the movie for readers who haven’t seen it, I would not explain here what exactly happened in the movie. It is very easy for people to jump to a negative conclusion without thinking there could be more to it. So before one draws a negative conclusion about a person or an incident think twice or may be more.

Some decisions are extremely hard to accept, however the more one takes time to make them the more one would suffer. Even though for a short term one would suffer making that decision, but one would be amazed for its profuse long-term results, which may not be speculated early or very easily.

Ameliorate your Vocabulary

So many times I have heard people say, “This is so hard”, “There is No way I will be able to do it” “I am NEVER going to make it” “I just CANNOT find time anymore”

The more and more one negates and self talks in above manner, one would cater away from getting any work done.

As John Maxwell very well said, “Saying you believe yourself will not guarantee your success, but saying you don’t believe in yourself will guarantee failure”
So once again think before you want to say it out loud…Choose your words carefully when you want others to listen to you, as sometime more than helping others or yourself you are unknowingly serving neither. In fact coasting further away from your goals.

“The power of words is immense. Well chosen words have stopped armies, changed defeat to victory, and saved empires”- Emile de Girardin.

Moment that matters!!

I have often heard people get easily discourage if what they have planned for the day does not start the way they wanted.
For example, “In order for me to get done whatever I have planned for the day, I will wake up at 5:00 am and do x, y and z but guess what I woke up at 7:00 and now I am so messed up"!

For me first day of the year or month or a day is not the signal when I want to get things straighten up but it is the moment I realize that I need to get more effective and productive. That moment could happen in the middle of a meeting, in the middle of the day or it could be as late as at the end of that day!!
It really does not matter if it is at 3:00 pm or 7:00 am it is the moment when I decide that I need to straighten things up and get disciplined. I make sure I start my day from there

Remember the principle of half glass full or half glass empty theory; Decision is ours, which way we would like to see it. So my suggestion would be whatever your goal for the day or for the month is don’t despair if things have not worked out for you so far, make this moment count!! Promise your self that no matter what it is NOW that matters, in order for you to be more effectual and feel accomplished in the fields you have promised yourself to do your utter best.

Moments of silence

In this hustle bustle of life, there many moments lost where one wished they had more time to think before they took an action.

Every now and then, there are moments one encounter that they wished they had some more time to reflect, some more time!!

One of the effective solutions that have worked for me is to cancel all the external noises.
Turn of the phone if you get too many phone calls, isolate yourself in the area where no one can find you and most importantly observe silence. There is a tremendous energy lost when you talk too much and keep complaining you have so much to do and no time, if you were to observe even an hour silence a day you will see amount of energy you would conserve for it to be effective for a more productive results!!

Winning the game!!

It is not until one invests 80% in preparation that will determine remaining 20% of action to win the game. One of the quotes quoted in Darren’s blog so rightly said,
“If I had eight hours to chop down a tree,I’d spend the first six sharpening the ax”. —Abraham Lincoln

From my recent personal experience preparation is what helped me to win the game.
I contemplated the way I wanted to play prior to game. How I would react with each and every chance I would get. Connected spiritually with my inner mind and said “No mistake, what so ever”!!
And it worked superbly.

Been a so-so player so far but with today’s victory I conquer that contemplating and preparing for the game even before it was going to happen, helped tremendously!!
So here is my take, whenever one gets ready for finals whether its presentation, meetings, crucial conversation, games or exams! You will win if you play to win with right spirit. By that I mean “Preparation” is number one key to success. Emotionally especially! Play in your head just the way you want to play in actual and you will surely reap benefits not saying to forget practice as it is a key ingredient as well. But if you haven't prepared mentally no matter how much you have practice it could go all in vain!!

Think like a Man, Act like a Woman and Forgive like a Child!!

What does this topic mean? May be a common question in every readers mind as they are reading this topic, isn’t?
Think like a man, when I say that, I am implying that men are known for cognitive decision, when they have to make a decision between rights and wrongs in the business or any other situation they are known to think through their heads than hearts. When it comes to financial planning they are risk takers and make some solid wise decision than a women, who is known to be more apprehensive than men while making such decisions.

However, once the decision is made emotional intelligence plays a key role in order to succeed that’s when “act like a women” does its wonders. Women are sensitive their approachability to subject , which includes business and/or family related is directly proportional to what they feel if they were in opponents shoe, they come across more humble and sensitive which works stunningly in deal making than men who could be egoistical and boasting.

However hardest thing of all is to let go and forgive people while dealing day to day matter and at this point both Men and Women fail!! That is when “Forgive like a child” does its marvel. Have you seen a kid ever being upset or mad at anyone, Of course excluding cases when baby is hunger or tired or sick…but a child is as forgiving and as close to god one could imagine. In fact many preacher give an example to be as forgiving as child and ask people to implement it into their day to day lives.

Thus “Think like Man, Act like Woman and Forgive like child” to triumph your life !!!

My Love for NBA

People wonder and ask me as to why I love and appreciate NBA playoffs!!
My answer is simple; this game is all about winning!!
Every player in the game matters, and every sec counts, remember Cleveland and Magic game where Lebron scored points in remaining 1 sec of the game and won!! WOW

I cherish game as sheer motivator for my personal life. People are indeed passionate!!
By now almost all players are injured, worn out and extremely exhausted but in about 48 hours they are back in action!!

I try using similar principal in my life, making every second count for my action. “Game of Life” so called is extremely interesting.
For example at work one is so focused and is working extremely hard, then just 10-15 minutes before he/she is ready to leave for home, that person is either caught surfing net or just talking to colleagues when CEO enters the room. What kind of impression would that leave?
Even better you have worked extraordinarily hard for your exams, been up burning candles and on day of exams you are so exhausted that you are not able to perform 100%

In any of these above scenario what is the point if one cannot perform 100% at their final run? All hard work is in the drain!! I look at games like NBA and try to self implement that no matter how hard you have worked what matter are those finales…If one is able to perform than he/she is a true Champion of Life!!

Personal Note

Something personal to me that I am going to share.

I know this person very well. She has a huge contribution in raising me.
She has been in United States of America for about 20 years.
When people are tired, they would probably take her name and ask for strength and continue to work.
She is 78 years old and not to mention the most important thing, she is living here for 20 years without car!!

So when she wants to make my favorite meal what does she do. She plans ahead for about three days in advance. She changes at least 3 buses to get the right grocery for me.
Then next days she again goes to the other end of the city and brings my most favorite fruits by changing at least 4 buses one way. Carrying at minimum 10 lb bags in each hand. She is still a perfectionist and extremely endearing. Her cooking is infectious.

I see people at her age and thank god that she is so blessed to be healthy. I wish I could do half of the work she does.
The greatest learning I have learned from her, never compromise on your ability to serve. Do what you can but whatever work you do, do it so well as if god had to evaluate you.

The person I am talking about is no other than my "Grandmother".

Will you choose Blue pill or Red Pill for your life?

Have you seen movie Matrix? In that character “Neo” is asked to choose between a Blue pill and a Red pill and guess what he chooses? The one and that leads rest of the movie.

If you haven’t seen that movie and have no idea what I am talking about no sweat.
Basically, what I am relating to is in your life. You have two options to choose, one so called “Red Pill” and if you choose that then you will live your life like an ordinary human being. You wake up, go to work, feed your family and thus the routine continues. Or you have an option to choose “Blue Pill” and if you were to choose that then, you can lead an extraordinary life where you will get a chance that would differentiate you from others and you will be successful.

We all are given options and of course the easier one is the “Red Pill” where you don’t have to do much and just live your life, thus it makes it an easier selection then the other. The way “Blue pill” distinguish is you will surely have certain risks, hardship and tons of failure, “Wait a second” you may ask “why try, eh”? As Albert Einstein truly said, “If you haven’t failed, you’re not trying hard enough” and hence in order to be someone unique and inconceivable one would really need to start thinking as to what do they want to choose? Not only that but ask yourself what kind of legacy you want to leave? How do you want your friends, peers and most important your family members to remember you?
Maybe, a thought for weekend to ponder!

Resolution clean up!!!

In no time we will be closely approaching towards last half of the year. This would be a good time to introspect and go over any list items you may have prepared at the beginning of this year.

Some of the items you might have already achieved in that case you might want to cross those of and pat your back for that achievement.
On the other end even if you have not started working on them, then this would be a good opportunity to refocus your energy and aspiration towards it.
There could be some add on that you might want to address in your list.

Whatever it is like spring-cleaning lets start working and clean of our goal and objectives for this year whether they are career related, social, spiritual or personal!!

Power of contemplation

In one of my previous blog I have mention a word contemplate. I looked into dictionary and it simply meant " to think seriously" or "plan". But what I am going to talk about today is beyond that.

The meaning is much deeper. My grandfather once heard this message from Dr Wayne Dyer and from there he taught me this amazing lessons, which I am about to share with you the ultimate power of contemplation.

So what is it that you may ask? Answer is very simple and if you are truly determined it is very easy to follow. It is art of science where you work with your conscious to be able to reap success to what ever your dream is.

For example, if you want to become a musician and you currently are working as engineer if you contemplate by bringing all your energy and positive force in believing your self as a true musician guess what you will be able to do it. All you have to do is churn that belief into reality by means of perseverance and become so focus on your dream that you would not give it up until you have it transformed it to reality.

I believed that and it has shown amazing results to me.
Today I want you to give a try . Pick one of your dreams that you wish you could have done and don’t let it just stay as a dream but contemplate until it changes to reality!!

Happy Mother's Day

My today’s tribute is to my mother in fact on my sister’s behalf our mother.
Everyone has a special memory of the time that they spend with their mom. We have some special ones too. If anyone would ask in our family who the most caring, giver, loving, compassionate and amazing person. The answer would come out straight right it would be my mom. I have been in USA for about 9 some year, but there has not been a single year where my mom leaving my dad for 5-6 months has not spent time with my sister and me. Why if you may ask, just to make sure we are doing okay and so that we do not miss their presence. Who does that ?????My shout out goes to my dad for his sacrifice!

I could go on pages after pages thanking my parents for making us so successful where we are today. It would have been impossible if they did not trust us. They had this amazing optimistic view about our future. Today where my sister and me stand is due to an immense sacrifice from my parents and their belief in us. I feel humbly blessed and thankful to god for having wonderful godily parents.

Often time we take things for granted and forget to thank and say how much we love them. I would encourage to all my dear friends. Make a special call to your Mom and tell her how much you care and love her!!More than gifts it is those special words, which are more precious and it means whole world to her!
"Happy Mother's Day"

Procrastination is a roadblock to success!!

Best way to address matter/work that you dislike the most is to get it done first.
Sounds weird but the feeling of getting that work accomplished would have ripple effects that would last for the rest of your day.

I understand the reason it does not get done is for the fact that you just don’t want to do it, but I urge you to get it done first thing in the morning. You would be so pumped that you will get another 10 things done and feel so accomplished for the day!

Procrastinating your work is not only prejudicial thought pending in your mind but also somewhere it has inert reaction with your day-to-day work you do.Energy that would converge once that roadblock is addressed is boundless.

Friend in Need is a Friend Indeed

To ultimately testify quality of friends and peers around you it is truly dependent on their act in amidst challenges. The term challenges could vary from one person to another. It could be anywhere from hitting their car to losing someone close to you.
In those circumstances are they by your side?
The true testimony is how well do they cooperate and help you then.

I had one of those incidences yesterday where my dear friends awesomeness and kindness did its charm, I could have had to go to lot worst and yes it was totally my fault.
I really feel blessed!
People say we need to go to temple to pray but my dad has always advised me and I thank him for that, is that a true prayer and religion is “To be good and Do good “and that is what just happened yesterday. It is indeed following a true religion to forgive and be so humble after that is an act of godliness.

So my challenge today to you all is to think and evaluate who surrounds you, who are your true sponsors or who has your back?Whether at work or amongst your friends? Yes you may have few friends just to have good times and nothing else. But when you need someone who will be the one by you?

Edit button works great!!

My day began not the way I wanted one thing after the other failed.
I almost broke down into tears as everything was falling apart.
Do you know a feeling where you want everything done today and nothing at all gets done?
I had one of those days today.
But in spite of these odd ordeals something worked out just fine for me.

Edit!! If I were to delete all those instances from the day and look back how some of them if not done today would have caused me even more trouble later, now I suddenly feel better.
Edit!! It is process of instant gratification
Edit!! When I look on the brighter side I was assured of the some positive outcome that would benefit me in near future.
Edit!! Every instant has purpose and reason, some of those events are inevitable what is in my hand is to just delete some of unsatisfactory events and raise my head up high and look forward for a brighter and a vibrant day.

I am on Facebook....Now what?

Are you wondering if you really need to have a blog, be on twitter, facebook or stay connected via linkedin?

So far I have interacted with two kinds of people, one who are actively connected to networking sites and ones that are clueless and have no idea as to why they need to.

I just finished reading a book called Social Networking by Liz Lynch. A very informative and easy to read I would say. It serves both kind of people that I have mention above the ones who have no idea, it will give you an insight as to why it so important and how to get started and to the novice audience it would teach you some important tools as to how you could continue connecting and networking better and efficiently. I definitely recommend it!

Some of the lesson I have learned so far. I have seen number of real time stories regarding people looking out for a job via monster, ladders or any of those sites and have had no luck. Impressively to them these networking sites have helped. It is amazing to learn how they have connected with right person via using one the social networking sites. Not only that many entrepreneurial initiatives began via connecting with new people and letting them know what one was looking for.
If you are interested in socializing and learn more about people and stay connected 24X7 nothing could be a better way than using one of the social sites. Some of the initiatives that you haven’t even thought could emerge by connecting with right people or right group of people.
Just started a new e-business or any in that matter, need to pull in customers? Still wondering where to go about and start advertising for free?
I could list endless list of how much connecting via social networking sites is absolutely must in today’s environment. If you have doubt and wonder how it could benefit you and if you are still unsure feel free to write to me.
Happy Social Networking!!

Have you been touched lately??

I am so touched!! Yesterday I had been to Bajio's for dinner.
This is was my first time ever!
I admit that I am a little too paranoid vegetarian, So I was making sure if the beans had veggie oil in it, If the Mexican rice had no chicken broth and so on...This wonderful person did not know the answer...There were only two people working there and there was a huge line behind me.
But so that I enjoy my meal with all the right ingredient she took off her cell phone and called her manager and made sure that each and every item that I was going to try in my salad had all the right vegetarian stuff in it.
I was so touched by her gesture!! Such a wonderful thing for a person to do!! She had a mesmerizing smile in utter chaotic situation but she found time for me. Who does that? There are very few people around, who would go out of their way to please each and ever customer. I humbly thank them...Have you been touched lately?

Have you connected with yourself yet?

The most important and crucial aspectto one's life is to connect with one self.
Some may wonder why would it be so important.
But my challenge to them is, if you don't know what you want how will know what to do next?

I have seen my seniors and my colleagues moving around jumping up in their careers, pursuing a degree just because they hear that it is one of the most important thing in life or just because "Mr Bob got a job because he had a MBA from Wharton, hence if Mr Bob gets it this way even I want to have it".

I am not saying that learning best practises from others and pursuing them are of any harm. But what if in your pursuit of career you losing the track of your happiness? Is it really worth it?
So connect with your ownself. As Robin Sharma suggests have a holy hour in the evening and/or in early morning where you are just with your self. Do meditation or any relaxing activity that connects you within you and introspect to see where you want to head to. What is it that is most important to you? what is that makes you happy at the end of the day? If you have the answer my friend and that is what you are pursuing you are at super luck and if not start a brand new resolution today to make it happen!

Entrepreneurship in its true Spirit

What does entrepreneurship mean to you? This question was asked to some people, I was honed by their answer, for some it means starting business on large scale or something, where you have some people reporting to you. Its about having a decent amount cash in hand or have an angel investor helping you to start a business…If you have all of that great! Yes some might say they are entrepreneurs. I would say sure…but there is more than that.

For an example, for someone if they are teaching lessons for them it could be as simple as lowering fees and getting more students and thus competing in tough economy. Starting a catering business over weekends from home. If you are an artist than doing an art show for summer festival or anything similar.

Bottom line is you don’t need to have 15 to 250 K to start your business. If there is something you truly believe in and something that could help the community and you are able to do that, you are an entrepreneur.
I remember my grandfather talking to me about magic of contemplation. Contemplate and believe in your dreams then the nature forces would work on it and make it happen! It has worked for me :)
